Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Tahoe Area
The Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization (TMPO) and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is the federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Lake Tahoe region. TRPA/TMPO jointly released its first Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS), also known as Mobility 2035, in 2012.
TRPA’s existing land use regulations and transportation programs contribute to attainment and maintenance of environmental threshold standards for the Tahoe region. The Tahoe Regional Plan Update focuses on expansion of transit services and accessibility through residential development patterns, the walkability of communities, and the use of economic incentives and disincentives to promote achievement of air quality.
