Workshop Dates & Details
On March 24, 2022, CARB approved amendments to the Commercial Harbor Craft (CHC) Regulation, which will reduce emissions from harbor craft operated in California waters and improve public health in nearby communities. In approving these amendments, the Board directed the establishment of a Technical Working Group (TWG) (reso22-6chc.pdf) to assess the commercial availability of lower-emitting combustion engines and zero-emission technology for all types of commercial harbor craft. Using input from this technical working group and other data gathered, CARB staff will report back to the Board by December 31, 2024.
The TWG will be composed of virtual workshops, with the first workshop to be held on April 24th, with additional workshops scheduled for May 29th and August 7th. The workshop series will include presentations and panel discussions that will provide information and perspectives from vessel operators, industry associations, environmental and community-based organizations, technology developers, engine and after-treatment manufacturers, academic institutions, government agencies, and members of the public.
