Air Quality Plans
CARB is responsible for developing plans addressing a wide variety of air quality issues. These include clean-air plans known as State Implementation Plans for areas that don’t meet federal air quality standards, the state’s plan to reduce climate changing emissions, coordination of local plans to encourage sustainable development and transportation, and a Sustainable Freight Strategy to reduce emissions from the goods movement industry. The state’s Scoping Plan outlines the range of programs and initiatives California will take to reach its 2030 climate goals. And CARB is now beginning a new planning process to protect air in communities and neighborhoods including engagement with representatives of those communities.
