California launches $500 million funding effort to accelerate switch to zero-emission school buses

SACRAMENTO – California is launching a new statewide funding program that will put 1,000 new, zero-emission school buses on the road, furthering the state’s lead in having the most clean buses in the nation.

“California is showing the nation and the world how to move from ambition to action,” said Gov. Gavin Newsom. “This is yet another record state investment that puts the health of our kids and communities first – replacing 1,000 older polluting school buses with clean buses.”

California and Quebec release summary results from 40th joint cap-and-trade allowance auction

SACRAMENTO – Today at noon (PDT), California and Quebec released the results of the 40th joint cap-and-trade auction of carbon allowances from both jurisdictions. The final numbers include sales figures and settlement prices for Current Vintage (2019, 2021 & 2024) and Advanced Vintage (2027).

AB&I Foundry of East Oakland settles nuisance odor case

SACRAMENTO – The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) finalized a settlement with McWane, Inc., doing business as AB&I Foundry, of East Oakland, Calif., to resolve nuisance odors and permit violations stemming from its operations. 

California’s forklifts to become cleaner and less polluting

RIVERSIDE – The California Air Resources Board (CARB) today passed a new regulation that will phase out the operation of large spark-ignited (LSI) forklifts in California and spur the use of zero-emissions alternatives. LSI forklifts are a source of criteria pollutants and greenhouse gases, particularly in parts of the state that continue to exceed federal ozone standards.
