Zero-Emission Infrastructure

CARB drives clean-air initiatives by guiding stakeholders in zero-emission vehicle fleet infrastructure planning.

The ZEV Infrastructure Team supports CARB teams responsible for developing and implementing zero-emission regulations for on- and off-road vehicles and equipment. It also works with partner agencies to ensure that CARB’s pending and adopted regulations are factored into their decision-making processes.

CARB is collaborating closely with state and local agencies to ensure that electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure in California expands at the rate needed to support zero-emission vehicle deployment targets, as outlined in Governor Newsom’s Executive Order N-79-20. CARB actively works with its partner agencies to address challenges in infrastructure development and operation while ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet the needs of California’s fleets and drivers. CARB’s state agency partners include the California Energy Commission (CEC), the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Transportation Commission (CTC), the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA), and others. In addition to collaborating with government agencies, CARB engages with utility companies and private stakeholders to facilitate infrastructure development in support the electrification of heavy-duty vehicles.
