On January 26, 2023, the California Air Resources Board will consider approval of the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s 2022 Air Quality Management Plan for the 70 parts per billion 8-hour Ozone Standard (70 ppb ozone standard) in the South Coast Air Basin and Coachella Valley (2022 AQMP). The 2022 AQMP was adopted by the South Coast Air Quality Management District on December 2, 2022 and demonstrates that the South Coast Air Basin and the Coachella Valley meet the Clean Air Act requirements for the 70 ppb ozone standard. If the CARB Board adopts the 2022 AQMP, CARB will submit the 2022 AQMP and the relevant portions of the CARB Staff Report to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) for inclusion in the California State Implementation Plan.
