The California Air Resources Board publishes guidelines and fact sheets on common indoor air pollutants and ways you can reduce your exposure to indoor air pollutants. These indoor pollutants can cause a variety of health effects such as eye, nose and throat irritation, can make your asthma worse, or can even cause cancer. Levels of many pollutants can be lowered through smart and proper use of building materials, combustion sources (such as gas and wood burning appliances) and consumer products (such as cleaning and personal care products) in the home, and through good and regular cleaning practices.
