This Technical Summit Presentation provides an overview of the goals of Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (C.Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017), the various program elements, initial funding allocated to begin implementation of the Community Air Protection Program (Program), and key next steps. It also summarizes the proposed process in the Concept Paper for identifying impacted communities, statewide strategies to reduce emissions of criteria air pollutants and toxic air contaminants, as well as proposed criteria for development and implementation of community emissions reduction programs and community air monitoring campaigns.
Development of the Program is still in the early stages and the goal of the Technical Summits is to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to have a detailed discussion about the Concept Paper, facilitate ongoing discussion, and seek additional public input to guide our efforts going forward. Comments received on the Concept Paper will support the development of a draft version of the required planning documents for the Program to be released this spring. We welcome and encourage your participation in this effort.
