California Certification Fuel
Categories
The California Air Resources Board developed a new certification fuel for 2015 and newer vehicles that closely resembles in-use fuel. The current certification fuel contains methyl-tertiary butly ether (MTBE), which has been banned in California gasoline since December 31, 2003. The certification fuel for 2015 and newer vehicles contains 10 volume percent ethanol (E10) instead of MTBE. This page contains information related to California's certification fuel.
On August 7, 2012, the Office of Administrative Law approved the "LEV III" Amendments to the California Greenhouse Gas and Criteria Pollutant Exhaust and Evaporative Emissions Standards and Test Procedures and to the On-Board Diagnostic System Requirements for Passenger Cars, Light-Duty Trucks, and Medium Duty Vehicles, and to the Evaporative Emission Requirements for Heavy-Duty Vehicles.
