Quality Bicycle Products, GBC Settles For $3,000
In June 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Quality Bicycle Products, GBC (QBP), with its principal location in Bloomington, Minnesota, in the amount of $3,000 for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation that revealed QBP sold products that failed to meet the date coding requirements for a multi-purpose lubricant. Proper date coding practices enable CARB to enforce the emissions laws that were in effect at the time a product was created. CARB documented violations as they related to the Consumer Products Regulations (Cal. Code Regs., tit.17, § 94500 et seq.).
To settle the case, QBP agreed to the penalty of $3,000. Terms of the settlement include a requirement that QBP come into compliance with their date coding. QBP fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
