Freight & Goods Movement
California is the nation’s largest gateway for international trade and domestic commerce, with an extensive system of ports, highways and railways that moves millions of tons of cargo every day. While this vast cargo movement system supports a vibrant economy, it also is a major source of harmful pollution, generating a high portion of pollution in parts of the state with poor air quality. The California Air Resources Board is engaged in a wide array of innovative programs to reduce the air quality impact of moving freight throughout the state.
