Established by Senate Bill 1013, the Fluorinated-gas (F-gas) Reduction Incentive Program (FRIP) has received a total of $66 million to promote the adoption of climate-friendly, low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant technologies to help California meet Senate Bill 1383 F-gas reduction targets and reach carbon neutrality.
The first round of FRIP awards in 2020 supported the grocery stores and supermarkets in transitioning to climate-friendly refrigerant technologies. New FRIP funding will be available in Fall 2024 through an upcoming grant solicitation and will address market barriers to incentivize the adoption of ultra-low-GWP refrigerant technologies and reduce F-gas emissions in a variety of sectors, including commercial and industrial refrigeration.
