California Air Resources Board

SACRAMENTO – The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is hosting a workshop Monday to provide an update on State efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from petroleum sources. The workshop, to be livestreamed, will also explore potential additional measures to expedite California’s transition to cleaner sources of energy and ensure the State remains on track to achieve its 2030 climate goal. California’s 2017 Climate Change Scoping Plan, adopted by the Board in December, shows petroleum demand will decrease by more than 45 percent by 2030, which means Californians will be using less gasoline and diesel resulting in healthier air and cost-savings on transportation fuels.

The workshop is in response to Board direction to continue evaluating additional opportunities to cut emissions from energy sources, including sources related to energy production, that contribute to climate change, air pollution and other environmental and health hazards.
