L.A. Specialty Produce Co. Case Settles for $1,575
L.A. Specialty Produce Co. paid $1,575 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $1,181.25 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $393.75 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges. This settlement was reached in October 2009. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that L.A. Specialty Produce Co. failed to comply with the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) regulation by not affixing or painting the ARB-issued identification numbers on its TRUs. To settle the case, L.A. Specialty Produce Co. agreed to the $1,575 penalty and to comply with the TRU regulation.
