J&M Wholesale Meat, Inc. Case Settles for $2,625
J&M Wholesale Meat, Inc. will pay $2,625 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,313 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,312 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in May, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that J&M Wholesale Meat, Inc. failed to bring two of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure. To settle the case, J&M Wholesale Meat, Inc. agreed to the $2,625 penalty and to comply with TRU, PSIP and other ARB programs.
