Supporting Environmental Justice Activities
Assembly Bill 617 aims to reduce the burden from pollutants in California’s most disadvantaged communities. The primary elements of the bill focus on discrete actions to determine solutions for directly reducing the air pollution impacts on environmental justice communities. Similarly, the objective of AB 197 is to achieve emissions reductions beyond the statewide greenhouse gas emissions limit and to protect the state’s highly impacted and disadvantaged communities.
The Criteria and Toxic Reporting Program staff is working closely with external stakeholders and other CARB working groups to implement the requirements of both assembly bills. CARB’s efforts will help to achieve these goals and further protect public health by improving public right-to-know and data transparency, specifically within these identified communities.
