Zero-Emission Trucks Showcase + Ride and Drive Event: On June 21 in Fresno, CARB and CALSTART will host the free Zero-Emission Truck and Off-Road Showcase + Ride and Drive event. Attendees will have an opportunity to test drive zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment. An overview will be provided of CARB’s Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) TruckStop website – a resource to help fleets, owners, and operators plan for, transition to, and learn about ZEV terminology, technology, planning, incentives, and resources. Attendees will also have access to Cal Fleet Advisor, a free technical assistance program provided by zero-emission experts for fleets, owners, and operators. CARB, the California Energy Commission, and CALSTART staff will be available to answer questions.
Board Meeting: On June 22 in Sacramento and via webcast, the Board will hear the following agenda items: 1) the proposed adoption of the 2023 Eight-Hour Ozone Plan for the Eastern Kern Nonattainment Area into the California State Implementation Plan; 2) the proposed amendments to the Greenhouse-Gas Emission Standards for Crude Oil and Natural Gas Facilities; 3) and the presentation of the 2022 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards, recognizing seven extraordinary individuals who have made transformative contributions toward air quality and/or addressing climate change (more information detailed below).
2022 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Talks: On June 22 in Sacramento and via webcast, CARB will host the Haagen-Smit Clean Air Talks where seven individuals will be recognized for their exceptional and transformative contributions, widespread impacts, and novel accomplishments surrounding clean air and climate change. CARB will present these individuals with the 2022 Haagen-Smit Award. During this event, the seven award recipients will make short presentations on their work. Award recipients include: Co-Founder and Executive Director of WE-ACT for Environmental Justice Peggy Shepard; Member Secretary of the India Central Pollution Control Board Prashant Gargava, Ph.D.; UC Berkeley Professor and MacArthur Foundation Chair Allen Goldstein, Ph.D.; Coalition for Clean Air Policy Director Bill Magavern; Colorado School of Public Health Dean and Professor Jonathan Samet, M.D., M.S.; Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment Retiree Shankar Prasad, M.B.B.S.; and Former Director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Chemical Sciences Division Daniel Albritton, Ph.D. Unfortunately, Dr. Albritton, passed away recently, so his longtime collaborator Susan Solomon will speak about his work on his behalf.
