The California Air Resources Board (CARB) may have recently sent you a postcard because you may own a motorhome that is registered in California that is subject to the Clean Truck Check requirements. In December 2021, CARB approved the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) Regulation, now known as Clean Truck Check. The goal of Clean Truck Check is to help California meet its air quality standards by making sure heavy-duty vehicles have properly working emissions equipment and get repaired promptly when needed. The Clean Truck Check program applies to almost all non-gasoline (e.g. diesel, alternative fuel) heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds that operate in California.

Your California-Registered Motorhome May Be Affected by Clean Truck Check
You will need to meet Clean Truck Check requirements if your non-gasoline motorhome of any model year has a GVWR of over 14,000 pounds and is registered in California. Clean Truck Check requires reporting, annual compliance fees, and annual vehicle testing. Keep your motorhome on the road and avoid a California DMV registration hold by taking action on the requirements listed in the next section.
Clean Truck Check Requirements
- Create an account and report your owner information and vehicle(s) in the Clean Truck Check Vehicle Inspection System (CTC-VIS)
