Roundtable to Incorporate Environmental Justice Into Research Priorities: On September 23 in Richmond, CARB, along with Benicia Community Air Monitoring Program, will host a roundtable meeting to collaborate with the public in incorporating environmental justice into research priorities surrounding air quality, climate change, health, and sustainable communities. This meeting is part of a series of roundtables where the public will have the opportunity to share concerns and priorities in small group discussions. Outcomes from the meeting will help shape potential research projects for CARB’s 5-Year Strategic Research Plan for the 2025-2030 time period.
Research Screening Committee Meeting: On September 23 in Sacramento and via remote access, CARB will host a public meeting of the Research Screening Committee (RSC). The Board’s legislatively mandated RSC consists of scientists, engineers, and other experts knowledgeable about air pollution. The committee meets approximately two-to-four times a year to review proposed and completed research projects.
Workshop on Targeted Amendments to Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation: On September 24 in Sacramento and via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss proposed amendments to the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) Regulation. These amendments would implement the Assembly Bill 1594 requirements. A recording of the meeting will be available on the ACF Meetings & Events webpage.
Workshop on Phased Advanced Clean Equipment Regulation: On September 24 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss the proposed Phased Advanced Clean Equipment (PACE) Regulation, formerly known as the Off-Road Zero-Emission Targeted Manufacturer Rule. Staff will discuss the proposed approach for the regulation and solicit feedback from stakeholders.
Regional Listening Sessions on Zero-Emission Space and Water Heater Standards: On September 24 in San Francisco, and Sept. 26 in Nevada City, CARB will host listening sessions as part of an effort to engage the public and inform the development of zero-greenhouse-gas-emissions standards for space and water heaters. These standards seek to reduce climate pollutants and smog-forming emissions from new space and water heaters sold in California to help meet the State’s climate goals and federal air quality standards. These meetings will be part of a series of sessions hosted throughout the State. CARB staff will proactively share information about the potential regulation, solicit public feedback, and identify possible solutions. The session in San Francisco will be co-hosted by SPUR; and the one in Nevada City will be co-hosted by Sierra Energy Reimagined.
Community Input Session on California’s Clean Car Future: On September 26 in Oxnard, CARB will host a community session to solicit input, which will help shape California’s clean car future. CARB is partnering with local community-based organizations to host a series of in-person sessions and a separate virtual statewide session. The public will be able to provide feedback to CARB staff that will inform regulation development surrounding the reduction of air pollution from gasoline-powered cars and light trucks. The community input provided will also help to improve the process of purchasing and driving zero-emission vehicles.
Public Workshop on Proposed Off-Road New Diesel Engine Emissions Standards: On September 27 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss proposed amendments to the off-road new diesel engine emissions standards in efforts to reduce emissions from new off-road compression-ignition engines (Tier 5 rulemaking). CARB staff will discuss proposed amendments, including changes to the On-Board Diagnostics and Tier 5 proposals. Staff will seek public feedback from interested parties.
