Public Meeting for the Assembly Bill 617 Consultation Group: On September 21 via Zoom, CARB will host a public meeting for the Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) Consultation Group. Comprised of individuals representing environmental justice organizations, air districts, industry, academia, public health organizations, and local governments, the AB 617 Consultation Group facilitates these meetings to discuss various aspects of Community Air Protection Program implementation.
Public Work Group on the In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation: On September 21 via remote access, CARB staff will hold a public work group meeting to discuss additional requirements within the proposed amendments to the In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation (Off-Road Regulation). The proposed requirements would apply to contractors and public work projects that hire fleets subject to the Off-Road Regulation. The focus of the discussion will primarily highlight how the proposed amendments will ensure compliance and enhance the current regulation.
Public Meeting on Research Priorities: On September 22 via remote access, CARB staff will host a public meeting to discuss research priorities to fund in Fiscal Year 2022-23. The discussion will include a program overview, various types of research (health, environmental justice, climate, etc.), and an update on input CARB received from the public call for research concepts and comments.
Public Workshop Ocean-Going Vessels and Cargo Handling Equipment Emissions Inventories: On September 22 via remote access, a public workshop will be held to discuss updates to the California Ocean-Going Vessel and Cargo Handling Equipment emissions inventory. Updates to be discussed include the methodology and data used to develop inventories and current and potential emissions at ports and railyards. The purpose of this public workshop is to provide an opportunity for the public to comment and review data sources and methodologies prior to the final release of the emission inventories in December 2021.
Environmental Justice Advisory Committee Public Meeting: On September 22 via remote access, CARB will host a public meeting for the Assembly Bill 32 (Núñez, 2006) Environmental Justice Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from California communities most heavily impacted by air pollution, including those communities with minority or low-income populations. This upcoming virtual meeting is open to the public and includes a public comment period.
Board Meeting: On September 23 via webcast, the Board will hear the following agenda items: (1) consideration of the Coso Junction planning area second ten-year PM10 maintenance plan; (2) consideration of the Sacramento County second ten-year PM10 Maintenance Plan; (3) update on the 2018 PM2.5 state Implementation Plan for the San Joaquin Valley and consideration of a State Implementation Plan revision for the 15 μg/m3 Annual PM2.5 Standard; and (4) consideration of the proposed amendments to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for in-use diesel-fueled transport refrigeration units (TRU) and TRU generator sets and facilities where TRUs operate.
Public Webinar on Diesel Truck Rules: On September 23 via webcast, CARB hold a public webinar on diesel regulations, compliance, and reporting. Owners, operators, and dispatchers for heavy-duty diesel trucks in California are encouraged to attend to learn how to legally operate diesel trucks in California. The course will also cover recent changes and updates to existing laws and regulations.
