Please see below for upcoming public events for the week of October 24, 2022.
Public Training Webinar on Transportation and Refrigeration Units: On October 26 via webinar, CARB staff will hold a public training webinar on Transportation and Refrigeration Units (TRU). Topics that will be covered include regulation applicability, hiring and contracting TRUs, compliance requirements, and registration and labeling. TRUs are used on semi-trailers, truck vans, shipping containers, and rail cars and most are diesel-powered. To reduce risk of exposure to diesel particulate matter from TRUs, owners, operators, dispatchers, and distribution centers must comply with the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measures.
Board Meeting: On October 27 in Sacramento and webcast, the Board will consider the proposed Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation rulemaking at the October Board meeting. The proposed regulation has been developed to achieve zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty fleets by 2045. The initial focus will be on high-priority fleets with vehicles that are suitable for early electrification.
Assembly Bill 32 Environmental Justice Advisory Committee Meeting: On October 24 and 25 in Fresno and via Zoom, CARB will host two public meetings for the Assembly Bill 32 (Núñez, Chapter 488, Statutes of 2006) Environmental Justice Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from California communities most heavily impacted by air pollution, including those communities with minority or low-income populations. This upcoming virtual meeting is open to the public and includes a public comment period.
Public Workshop on 2022 Scoping Plan Update: On October 28 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop on the 2022 Scoping Plan Update. At this workshop, staff will discuss the status of revisions to the Proposed Scenario modeling of the Assembly Bill 32 (Núñez 2006) sources (greenhouse gas emissions from energy and industrial sectors). Following the update, the Natural and Working Lands management scenario will be presented. This workshop is part of a series of workshops CARB is hosting in support of the 2022 Scoping Plan Update and is meant to assess progress towards achieving the 2030 target in Senate Bill (SB) 32 (Pavely, 2006) and lay out a path to achieve carbon neutrality no later than 2045 (SB 100, De León, 2018). Stakeholder participation and input is strongly encouraged.
