Public Workshop to Discuss Revisions to the Oil Production Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimator Model: On August 10 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss draft version 3.0 of the Oil Production Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimator (OPGEE) model. In accordance with the Low Carbon Fuel Standard regulation, revisions to OPGEE are considered on a three-year cycle. Under contract with CARB, Stanford University developed and periodically updates the OPGEE model. The model uses operational and characteristic data from oil and gas fields. This workshop will provide an overview of model revisions and comparisons of resulting carbon intensity values between the current and draft versions of OPGEE.
Public Workshop on Advanced Clean Cars II: On August 11 via webinar, CARB staff will provide an overview at the upcoming public workshop on the Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) regulations. The ACC II regulations seek to reduce criteria and greenhouse gas emissions from new light- and medium-duty vehicles beyond model year 2025 and increase the number of zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) for sale. At this workshop, CARB staff will discuss various regulatory proposals, provide updates on minimum technology requirements for ZEVS, and proposed measures to increase access to ZEVs for priority communities.
Public Meeting for the AB 617 Consultation Group: On August 12 via Zoom, CARB will host a public meeting for the AB 617 Consultation Group. Comprised of individuals representing environmental justice organizations, air districts, industry, academia, public health organizations, and local governments, the AB 617 Consultation Group facilitates these meetings to discuss various aspects of Community Air Protection Program implementation.
Public Webinar on Diesel Particulate Filter Operation and Maintenance: On August 12 via remote access, CARB will hold a public webinar on Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Operations and Maintenance. The course will discuss the production of diesel emissions, impacts on public health, diesel emission control technology, DPF construction and application, and successful DPF maintenance. Diesel emission control strategies, including DPF technology, are key components to California’s Diesel Risk Reduction Program. Retrofit DPFs have been verified by CARB to effectively reduce diesel emissions by at least 85 percent.
