Public Workshop on Engineered Carbon Removal Technical: On August 2 via remote access, CARB and the California Natural Resources Agency will host a public workshop to discuss engineered carbon removal. Experts will discuss the potential of carbon removal and the utilization of carbon storage technologies in California. This workshop is part of a series of workshops CARB is hosting in support of the 2022 Scoping Plan Update and is meant to assess progress towards achieving the 2030 target in Senate Bill 32 (Pavely, 2006) and lay out a path to achieve carbon neutrality no later than 2045 (Senate Bill 100, De León, 2018).
Public Workshop on Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program: On August 3 via Zoom, CARB staff will hold a public workshop to discuss updates to the draft proposed regulatory text and SB 210 (Leyva, 2019) pilot efforts to the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) Program. This workshop is part of an on-going series geared towards truck and fleet owners, trucking industry representatives, non-governmental organization representatives, and other interested stakeholders to discuss and provide feedback of the programmatic components to the future HD I/M program.
Public Workshop to Discuss the Community Emissions Reduction Plan for the Eastern Coachella Valley: On August 3 via remote access, the public is invited to participate in a workshop to discuss CARB’s role in the Community Emissions Reduction Plan for the Eastern Coachella Valley. The plan was developed as part of CARB’s Community Air Protection Program pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (Garcia, 2017) which requires community-focused action to reduce air pollution and improve public health in communities that experience disproportionate burdens from exposure to air pollutants. CARB selected the community of Eastern Coachella Valley in December 2019. At this workshop, CARB staff will present their review process for the plan and will engage in an interactive dialogue with community members, community-based organizations, and the public.
Environmental Justice Advisory Committee Public Meeting: On August 3 via Zoom, CARB will host a public meeting for the AB 32 (Núñez, 2006) Environmental Justice Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from California communities most heavily impacted by air pollution, including those communities with minority or low-income populations. This upcoming virtual meeting is open to the public and includes a public comment period.
Public Workshop on Fiscal Year 2021-22 Funding Plan for Clean Transportation Incentives: On August 4 via webinar, CARB staff will hold a second public workshop on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-22 Funding Plan for Clean Transportation Incentives to discuss options for expending the $1.5 billion in Zero Emission Vehicle Package funding appropriated to CARB from the Cap-and-Trade auction proceeds, the General Fund, and the Air Pollution Control Fund. The agenda for this workshop includes light-duty and clean transportation equity projects, the Long-Term Heavy-Duty Investment Strategy, and heavy-duty projects. Following the discussion, CARB staff will request input on potential refinements and policy recommendations for ongoing projects.
Public Work Group Meeting on FY 2021-22 Heavy-Duty Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilot Projects: On August 6 via remote access, CARB staff will hold a public work group meeting to discuss the potential to use a third-party administrator to implement FY 2021-22 demonstration and pilot projects as well as the proposed funding allocation for Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilot projects and project categories.
