$75,000 in Fines Paid by Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart was found selling two different non-complying windshield washer fluids at their stores in non-type A areas of California beginning in January 2002. One of these products was Super Tech, an in-house brand manufactured for Wal-Mart by SouthWin. The other product was 20/10 DeIcer. Neither product complied with the 10 percent VOC limit or with the 1 percent VOC limit that became effective on December 31, 2002. As part of the settlement executed on May 16, 2006, Wal-Mart paid $75,000 and provided shipping documentation, contract language, and declarations which will assist in additional enforcement actions.
