Vicco, Inc. Case Settles for $5,000
Vicco, Inc. will pay $5,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,750.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,250.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in November, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that VICCO, INC. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP); and (2) operate heavy duty vehicles equipped with a motor vehicle pollution control device as required by the Heavy Duty Vehicle Inspection Program (HDVIP); and (3) meet PM BACT requirements for all 2000 through 2004 engine model years and for all 2005 through 2006 engine model years as required by the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP, HDVIP and TB. To settle the case, VICCO, INC. agreed to the $5,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, HDVIP, TB and other ARB programs.
