Valley Power Systems, Inc. Case Settles for $33,212
In December 2014, Valley Power Systems, Inc. paid $33,212.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $24,909.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $8,303.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Valley Power Systems, Inc. failed to ensure that ten diesel emission control strategies were installed on the engines approved in the applicable Executive Orders. ARB documented violations as they related to the Verification Procedure. To settle the case, Valley Power Systems, Inc. agreed to the $33,212.00 penalty and to comply with the Verification Procedure and other ARB programs.
