$15,500 in Fines Paid by Titan Motorcycle Company
The Strategic Environmental Investigations (SEI) Unit, in a joint effort with the Mobile Source Enforcement Section (MSES), completed its investigation of Titan Motorcycle Company of Los Angeles and referred it to the ARB Legal Office on August 19, 1999. Titan Motorcycle Company of Los Angeles was displaying and offering for sale, illegal, non-California certified motorcycles on its showroom floor. Titan was issued a Notice of Violation on September 11, 1997, for ten illegal non-California motorcycles and failed to correct the violation. A second inspection was conducted on May 12, 1999, where it was discovered that Titan was offering for sale two motorcycles with tampered emissions systems. Titan paid a fine of $500 for this violation, but the first violation was never addressed. The investigation was settled by the ARB Legal Office on May 2, 2000, and resulted in an additional $15,000 fine levied against Titan Motorcycle Company of Los Angeles.
