Timber Products Co. Limited Partnership Settles For $50,760
In November 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Timber Products Co. Limited Partnership (Timber Products), of Springfield, Oregon, in the amount of $50,760 for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products (ATCM), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 93120, et seq.
Timber Products self-disclosed that it manufactured hardwood plywood (HWPW) panels without a third-party certifier (TPC) certification. This certification is a requirement set forth for manufacturers of composite wood products in the ATCM.
Of the total amount, $29,360 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining amount of $21,400 will fund the Supplemental Environment Project (SEP) entitled Fresno TREES Phase 5 – Outreach Education, that teaches youth about air pollution.
To come into compliance, Timber Products obtained TPC certification for its hardwood plywood panels. Timber Products cooperated fully with CARB to resolve this matter and is now in compliance.
