Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods Settles For $1,500
In June 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods, with its principal location in Moss Landing, California. The total penalty amount of $1,500 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods owns and operates a food production business that utilizes a medium-sized refrigeration system with a full charge of between 200 pounds and 2000 pounds of a high global warming potential refrigerant. As a result, the company is subject to CARB’s Regulation for the Management of High Global Warming Potential Refrigerants for Stationary Sources (RMP Regulation).
In January 2019, Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods was referred for enforcement action that resulted in a violation for failure to perform a leak check as specified in California Code of Regulations (CCR), title 17, section 95386(a) (17 CCR §95386(a)). Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods fully cooperated with the investigation, came into compliance quickly, and put into place policies and procedures to prevent similar issues in the future.
