In June 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Suprema Meats, Inc. of Oakland, California in the amount of $5,800 for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB documented violations as they related to the Emission Control Label requirement, as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2183 and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2190 et seq.
The full settlement amount of $5,800 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Terms of the settlement include a requirement that Suprema Meats, Inc., attend a smoke-test training course, submit PSIP tests for the entire applicable fleet for calendar years 2022 and 2023, and comply with all CARB regulations going forward. Suprema Meats, Inc. fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter.
