Superior Sod Case Settles for $22,300
Superior Sod will pay $22,300.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $16,700.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,600.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in November 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Superior Sod failed to comply with the Particulate Matter Best Available Control Technology requirements required for their trucks. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus Regulation. To settle the case, Superior Sod agreed to the $22,300.00 penalty and to comply with the Truck and Bus Regulation and other applicable ARB regulations.
