Southwest Trails Case Settles for $3,750
Southwest Trails will pay $3,750.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,812.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $938.00 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to fund retrofits and replacements for school buses. This settlement was reached in April 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that.Southwest Trails failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Southwest Trails agreed to the $3,750.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP and any other applicable ARB regulations.
