SM Line Corporation Case Settles for $7,500
SM Line Corporation (Korea), paid $7,500.00 in penalties to the California Air Resources Board (ARB), for violating the Ocean-Going Vessels fuel regulations. The violation was discovered during a routine inspection of the vessel by ARB staff. This settlement was reached on October 10, 2018. An investigation by ARB showed that the SM Line Corporation vessel SM Shanghai failed to operate on compliant fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters in 2018. ARB alleged one violation for a period of one day, and the penalty was reduced for cooperative efforts and first time violator. SM Line Corporation took prompt action after being notified of these violations and under ARB’s supervision began operating in a compliant fashion. To settle the case SM Line Corporation agreed to the $7,500.00 penalty, and to comply with ARB regulations.
