Silverado Building Materials Inc. Case Settles for $10,000
November 2011, Silverado Building Materials Inc. agreed to pay $10,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $7,500.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund; which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality and $2,500.00 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Silverado Building Materials Inc. failed to properly report and label their Off-Road Diesel Vehicles (ORDVs) as set forth by 13 CCR Section 2449; failed to self-inspect their diesel trucks to insure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as set forth by 13 CCR Section 2190; failed to register their drayage trucks in the Drayage Truck Registry (DTR) and dispatched non- compliant trucks to the ports in violation of 13 CCR Section 2027 . Silverado Building Materials Inc. has now registered all of their off-road vehicles; opacity tested their on-road fleet, registered all of their drayage trucks and agreed to only dispatch compliant drayage trucks to the ports and intermodal rail yards. Silverado Building Materials Inc. has agreed to pay the $10,000.00 penalty and to comply with the ORDV regulation, the PSIP, the drayage truck regulation and all other applicable ARB regulations.
