Shuttle Bus Leasing Case Settles for $7,275
Shuttle Bus Leasing will pay $7,275.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $5,456.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,819.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in November, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Shuttle Bus Leasing failed to bring two of their heavy duty diesel vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Shuttle Bus Leasing agreed to the $7,275.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
