Serrano Trucking Case Settles for $1,150
In August 2014, Serrano Trucking paid $1,150.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $863.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $287.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Serrano Trucking failed to test, measure, record and maintain records of smoke emissions from its fleet of heavy-duty diesel vehicles for years 2010 and 2011 in violation of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Serrano Trucking agreed to the $1,150.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, Transport Refrigeration Unit and Statewide Truck and Bus programs.
