San Jose Tallow Company Case Settles for $24,000
In June 2010, San Jose Tallow Company agreed to pay $24,000 in penalties; $18,000 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $6000 to Peralta Community College District, for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that San Jose Tallow Company failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, San Jose Tallow Company agreed to the $24,000 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
