SainStore Inc. Settles For $96,000
In August 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with SainStore Inc. (SainStore) of Las Vegas, Nevada for $96,000 in penalties for violation of the Regulation for Limiting Ozone Emissions from Indoor Air Cleaning Devices (Indoor Air Cleaner Regulation), California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94800 et seq. SainStore sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California uncertified indoor air cleaning devices under the brand name “Airthereal.” SainStore did not include an advisory statement on webpages advertising uncertified indoor air cleaning devices prohibiting sale in California. SainStore also failed to notify all retailers, sellers, and distributors of uncertified Airthereal devices about the Indoor Air Cleaner Regulation.
To come into compliance, SainStore ceased sales of uncertified ozone generating devices in California, added a California sales advisory statement to the website advertising uncertified devices, notified retailers that uncertified devices were not to be sold in California, and received CARB certification for indoor air cleaning devices.
