Rush Truck Leasing Case Settles for $46,875
Rush Truck Leasing will pay $46,875 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $23,438 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $23,437 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District’s School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in April 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Rush Truck Leasing failed to perform annual vehicle smoke opacity testing on all applicable trucks in their diesel fleet. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2180-2194 (13 CCR § 2180-2194). To settle the case, Rush Truck Leasing agreed to the $46,875 penalty and to comply with PSIP and other ARB programs.
