2022 Scoping Plan Update - Initial Air Quality & Health Impacts and Economic Analyses Workshop Presentations
The 2022 Scoping Plan Update will assess progress towards achieving the Senate Bill 32 (SB 32) 2030 target and lay out a path to achieve carbon neutrality no later than 2045. Achieving carbon neutrality will require the State to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the energy and industrial sectors (AB 32 sources), as well as consider emissions and sinks from natural and working lands (NWL). AB 32 specifies that the Scoping Plan evaluate the total potential costs and economic and non-economic benefits of the plan for reducing GHGs to California’s economy, environment, and health. Initial modeling results from the air quality and health impacts and economic analyses of both the AB 32 sources scenarios and NWL management scenarios will be presented at this workshop. This workshop will inform the 2022 Scoping Plan Update. Stakeholder input and feedback are encouraged.
CARB developed AB 32 sources modeling scenarios and NWL management modeling scenarios with extensive input from sister agencies, the Environmental Justice Advisory Committee, and the public to illustrate the effectiveness of different pathways for achieving the state’s climate goals. The GHG emissions results from these scenarios were presented at a public workshop on March 15, 2022.
