2018 San Joaquin Valley PM2.5 Plan
Categories
CARB and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (District) developed the 2018 Plan for the 1997, 2006, and 2012 PM2.5 Standards (2018 PM2.5 Plan) to meet nonattainment area requirements under the Clean Air Act for multiple federal National Ambient Air Quality Standards for fine particulate matter (PM2.5): the 65 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) 24-hour and 15 μg/m3 annual standards, the 35 μg/m3 24-hour standard, and the 12 μg/m3 annual standard. The 2018 PM2.5 Plan includes a strategy to provide for attainment of the four standards throughout the San Joaquin Valley. CARB adopted the 2018 PM2.5 Plan on January 24, 2019. The California Air Resources Board held a public meeting on September 28, 2017 to hear an update on the development of the San Joaquin Valley State Implementation Plan (SIP) for meeting multiple PM2.5 standards. The Board will also consider attainment contingency measures for the 15 ug/m3 annual PM2.5 standard.
