2016 San Joaquin Valley PM2.5 Plan
Categories
On October 20, 2016, CARB conducted a public meeting to consider the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District 2016 Moderate Area Plan for the 2012 PM2.5 Standard (2016 Moderate PM2.5 Plan). CARB and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District developed the 2016 Moderate PM2.5 Plan to meet moderate nonattainment area requirements under the Clean Air Act for the federal National Ambient Air Quality Standard for fine particulate matter (PM2.5) of 12 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3). The Board directed CARB staff to conduct several workshops in the San Joaquin Valley to assess opportunities for further reductions from stationary and mobile sources. CARB adopted the 2016 Moderate PM2.5 Plan on January 24, 2019, alongside the 2018 Plan for the 1997, 2006, and 2012 PM2.5 Standards (2018 PM2.5 Plan) which also included planning requirements for the 12 μg/m3 PM2.5 standard.
