Rapid Logistics LLC Case Settles for $14,000
Rapid Logistics LLC will pay $14,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $10,500.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,500.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in August 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Rapid Logistics LLC failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards and failed to bring their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM). To settle the case, Rapid Logistics LLC agreed to the $14,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TRU, and other ARB programs.
