Quartz Transportation LLC Settles For $31,000
In April 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Quartz Transportation LLC (Quartz), with its principal location in San Bernardino, California for the company’s violation of CARB’s Periodic Smoke Inspections of Heavy-Duty Diesel-Powered Vehicles Regulation (PSIP Regulation), under California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2190 et seq.
In response to a complaint, CARB audited and documented Quartz fleet compliance violations for years 2020 and 2021 as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program.
To settle the case, Quartz agreed to the penalty amount of $31,000. Of the total amount, $15,500 in civil penalty will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining $15,500 will fund a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) entitled Playport Mitigation and Air Filtration Phase I, with Givinga Foundation Inc. Terms of the settlement require Quartz to comply with all CARB regulations going forward. Quartz fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter.
