Premier Performance LLC Case Settles for $514,895
In December 2014, Premier Performance LLC paid $514,895.00 in penalties for violating Air Quality Regulations. $386,171.25 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality; $128,723.75 went to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, for a School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project.
Premier Performance, LLC (Premier) is a large warehouse distributor of aftermarket automotive parts, including performance parts. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) Enforcement Division Staff revealed that Premier, which is based in Rexburg, Idaho, was selling aftermarket parts in California which altered the performance of motor vehicle pollution control devices. Unless exempted by the ARB, the marketing of such parts in California is a violation of the California Vehicle Code. Premier cooperated with the investigation and halted distribution of non-compliant parts to California. To settle the case Premier agreed to the $514,895.00 penalty and instituted procedures to ensure future compliance with the California Vehicle Code.
