Poundex Associates Corporation Settles For $238,625
In June 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Poundex Associates Corporation (Poundex), located in City of Industry, California, for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products (Composite Wood Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 93120 et seq.
Poundex violated the Composite Wood Regulation requirement by not putting a statement of compliance on its customer invoices or customer bills of lading. Poundex also violated the Composite Wood Regulation by offering for sale composite wood products without a production date labeled on the product.
To come into compliance, Poundex now has a statement of compliance on its customer invoices and ensures its products are labeled with a production date. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB's Air Pollution Control Fund for the purpose of carrying out CARB's duties and functions to ensure the integrity of its air pollution control programs.
