Port of Stockton Settles Cargo Handling Equipment Violations for $8,625.00
In August 2019, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) settled a case with the Port of Stockton (POS), in Stockton, California, in the amount of $8,625.00. The penalty was incurred for violating the Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) regulation. The violations were discovered during a routine inspection of CHE at the Port of Stockton by CARB staff. An investigation by CARB showed that the Port of Stockton failed to perform annual opacity tests in 2017 on 23 pieces of CHE as required by the CHE regulation. The penalty paid in this case was $375.00 per violation for 23 pieces of CHE. To settle the case, the Port of Stockton agreed to the $8,625.00 penalty and to comply with CARB’s CHE regulation.
