POET Ethanol Products LLC Settles For $50,000
In August 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with POET Ethanol Products LLC (“POET”), with its principal location in Wichita, Kansas, for the company’s violation of CARB’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard Regulation (LCFS Regulation), as specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 95480 et seq.
POET is a fuel reporting entity as defined by the LCFS Regulation, and sold, supplied, or offered for sale transportation fuel ethanol into the State of California for the Reporting Period of the second quarter of 2023. CARB alleged that POET did not conform to the reporting requirements of the LCFS Regulation.
To settle the case, POET agreed to the penalty of $50,000. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality.
