Pinnacle Disposal & Environmental Services, Inc. Case Settles for $4,875
In March 2014, Pinnacle Disposal and Environmental Services, Inc. (Pinnacle Disposal), based in Irwindale, agreed to pay $4,875 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,656 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,219 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Pinnacle Disposal failed to comply with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle (SWCV) rule by neglecting to install legally required emission reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. Further, Pinnacle Disposal failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the SWCV regulation and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Pinnacle Disposal agreed to the $4,875 penalty and to comply with the SWCV and PSIP programs in addition to other ARB programs.
