Paul Oil Company, Inc. Case Settles for $16,000
In July 2014, Paul Oil Company agreed to pay $16,000 in penalties for violating California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2265(a)(4) and the protocol “Using a Cargo Tank Truck or Railcar as an Import Facility” between Paul Oil Company Inc. and CARB. California’s motor vehicle fuel regulation and the protocol require importers to notify CARB and report their fuel specifications prior to the sale, offer for sale, or supply into the California market. Between April 2011 and February 2012 Paul Oil released 113,640 gallons of fuel into commerce prior to notifying CARB. These violations were discovered by ARB staff during routine audit procedures. Paul Oil cooperated with ARB throughout the investigation and implemented new compliance procedures to prevent recurrence of similar violations. Paul Oil has not had any previous enforcement action taken by ARB.
